Klassiek in het Zwembad

24classics introduces the experimental concert series “Klassiek in the Zwembad” (Classical Music in the Swimming Pool). This initiative annually unfolds at Amsterdam’s Zuiderparkbad, merging the elegance of classical melodies with the serene and immersive atmosphere of a pool setting and nature surrounding it. The amalgamation of these seemingly disparate elements creates a unique, multisensory experience that captivates attendees, offering a fresh perspective on classical music appreciation. It attracts a bigger and more diverse audience, showing that classical music is still loved and can fit in today’s world.

At the heart of Klassiek in the Zwembad lies meticulous curation and artistic craftsmanship. Collaborating with exceptional musicians, 24classics selects a repertoire that resonates with both seasoned classical enthusiasts and newcomers. This unique concert series has proven instrumental in revitalizing and expanding the classical music landscape, attracting a growing number of attendees from various backgrounds, reaffirming the timeless appeal and adaptability of classical music in contemporary settings.

Klassiek in het Zwembad 2023

In de laatste week van augustus, op de enige avond dat het regende, vond Klassiek in het Zwembad plaats. Cellist Isaac Lottman en pianist Caspar Vos trotseerden de regen en zo kon er een half uur lang, vanuit het Flevoparkbad, genoten worden van muziek van Piazzolla, Saint-Sa¨ëns en Paganini. Na dit half uur kon de tent de regen niet meer aan en moesten de instrumenten in veiligheid gebracht worden. Het half uur muziek werd met groot enthousiasme ontvangen, Isaac: “Het was een magisch half uur.” Mede dankzij de regen was het een memorabele avond, na afloop bleef het publiek lang hangen om de tocht door de regen naar huis nog eventjes uit te stellen. Volgend jaar zijn we terug, met zonnig weer!
